Queenstown

As the bus approached Queenstown a hush fell over the Stray Group. For most people it meant the time had almost arrived for the feat that only some humans and most lemmings would attempt. The dreaded bungee.

Kawarau Bridge is the oldest commercial jump, and therefore the spiritual home of bungee jumping. It was opened by AJ Hackett in 1988 and is a relative tiddler at 43m.

In all 12 from 18 on the bus jump. The staff at K-bridge tell us they don’t normally get that many from a Kiwi or Magic bus and they usually carry closer to 40 people.

We pull into Queenstown still buzzing on adrenaline and just have time for a celebratory group photo and shower before a BIG night out.

There’s tons of things to spend your money on in Queenstown. I restricted myself to the Shotover jetboat and luge buggies because of the strain on my wallet. No fly-by-wire, aerobatic flight, skydiving, hang-gliding, parascending or quad biking for me. Damn.
Instead I climbed up a nearby mountain and took some pretty pictures...
